Open-Source Project for MPEG-5 EVC (Essential Video Coding)
Samsung Research has released open-source implementations of the MPEG-5 Essential Video Coding (EVC) standard, including an encoder (XEVE) and decoder (XEVD). These tools aim to provide better visual quality and alleviate royalty costs associated with video codecs.
